Services
Services provided include book lending, readers’ advisory, general reference, special reserve and Internet services. Reprographic, scanning, printing and spiral binding services are also offered to clients. There are 6 OPACs to enable Students and other users to browse the online catalogue. There is also a TV set meant to provide health information to users so as to create awareness with regard to HIV/AIDS. Users can access the library through the Internet. The library is fully automated.

Users
Library services are available to University Students, Lecturers and Staff. Outsiders who consist of Researchers, Students of other institutions of higher learning and members of the general public are given access to the library at a fee or with special permit.

Fees charged
Individuals who are neither administrative staff nor members of the academic community are required to the academic community are required to pay Tsh. 500/- per day or a fixed sum of sh.12,000/- per annum being charges for the use of available information resources in the library. Those attending tailor-made programmes (TMPs) pay sh.3, 000/-through the duration of the course. These rates are subject to periodic review.

Sitting Capacity
A total of 500 Users can be accommodated in the library at a time. Plans are under way to expand the existing library building so it may accommodate 1,200 users at a time.

Courses Offered
MCCoBS Library is a teaching library. Library work goes hand in hand with teaching for the objective of assisting to generate personnel acquainted with basics of Librarianship. To meet this end library staff has been conducting an “Elementary Course in Librarianship” since early 1994. Candidates eligible for the course are holders of ordinary and advanced level secondary education certificates and practicing library workers in institutional and organizational libraries. There are plans to introduce a Library Assistants’ Certificate course including an undergraduate degree programme in the field of Library Science when the necessary resources are available.
