INSTITUTE OF CONTINUING COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (ICCDE)

INTRODUCTION
The Moshi University College of Cooperative and Business studies (MUCCoBS) came into being in 2004, as a result of upgrading the former Co-operative College Moshi into a Constituent University College of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) as declared through SUA Declaration Order No. 22 of 2004. The University College was subsequently established under Universities Act (Cap 3460 Charter of 31st December, 2006).

ICCDE is one of the five pillars of the University College, namely Faculty of Cooperative and Community Development, Faculty of Business Management and Information Sciences, Institute of Continuing Cooperative Development and Education, Bureau of Research and Consultancy Services and Directorate of Library and Information Services.

ICCDE Mission:

The ultimate mission of ICCDE is to facilitate in developing the capacities of grassroot communities to generate useful and practical information related to their environment and to help them in order the practical application of such knowledge to suit their own situations so that they may bring about social and economic development through addressing poverty issues.

Vision:
ICCDE foresees revamped, empowered and sustainable co-operatives, Member Based Organizations (MBOs) and other self– help organizations that are capable of combating poverty and fulfilling community members' economic and social needs.

Objectives:
The objective of the ICCDE is to enable the target groups to:

  1. Access resources, knowledge and information
  2. Plan effectively
  3. Be creative and innovative in their developmental issues
  4. Organize and manage resources
  5. Take initiatives when opportunities arise
  6. Evaluate their own initiatives

Institutional Set-up:
The Institute is comprised of three departments namely:

  1. Extension and Outreach Programs
  2. Distance Education and
  3. Gender and Development

ICCDE operates 14 Regional Centres from its headquarters at Moshi Campus. These centres are include; Arusha, Dodoma, Morogoro, Pwani, Mtwara, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro, Tanga, Iringa, Mbeya, Singida, Kigoma, Ruvuma, Shinyanga and Tabora
