FACULTY OF CO-OPERATIVE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (FCCD)

Preamble

The faculty of Co-operative and Community Development comprises of four academic departments namely accounting, Cooperative Development and Management and Community Rural Development Economics. The faculty operates a semester system of studies in which the academic year is divided into two semesters, except for evening programmes which are run under the modular system. Current Programmes under the faculty are Certificate in Management and Accounting, Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting, Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Arts in Cooperative Management and Accounting, Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic Development, Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics, Postgraduate Diploma in Community Development, Postgraduate Diploma in Cooperative Business Management and Master of Arts in Community and Cooperative Development.

 

 Programmes

  1. Certificate in Management and Accounting  (CMA)

This is a one academic year (two semesters) Programmes:

This programme for the first time started in 2004/2005 academic year. This was first academic year under Moshi University College of Cooperative and Business Studies.

This programme was also introduced at Kizumbi Campus 2009/2010 academic year. Admission requirements, Form IV Certificate holders with four credits passes including English and Mathematics/Bookkeeping/Commerce, Physics/Geography and Chemistry or its equivalent.

The advantage of this programme is that the student can move from Certificate level to Degree and it will take him or her, Six year to obtain any Degree Offered at this University.

2. Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting (DCMA)

This is a two academic year programme (four semesters). This programme started in 2004/2005 academic year. This programme is introduced at Kizumbi Campus this academic year 2011/2012 and total of 127 students was admitted.

 

This programme it is designed to equip the students with the knowledge and skills to manage and do Accounting in Cooperative Sector, Government Organizations, Non-government Organization, Public and Private sector.

Entry requirement on this programme is Form VI or its equivalent, with at least one principal pass and two subsidiaries or a holder of first or second class Certificate from MUCCoBS or its equivalent or a holder of ATEC II.

3.  Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance (BA-AF)

    This is three years or (Six Semesters) Programme, with aim to equip the students with an ability to deal with Complex issues in Accounting and Finance in the National and International Competitive business environment. Graduates in this programme will be able to take up accounting and finance positions in Government, Public Sector, Private Sector, Cooperative Sector and Non-government Organizations.

Entry requirements in this programme at least two advanced level passes in Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Commerce, Physics and History/ Biology/Chemistry and Geography. The sum of points of the two principal level passes should not be less than 4.0. OR Holders of Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting from MUCCoBS will be eligible.

4. Bachelor of Arts in Cooperative Management and Accounting (BA-CMA)
This is three academic years (six semesters) Programme started in 2005/2006 academic year with objective of equipping students with an ability to deal with Complex issues in Cooperative Development and Management in the National and International competitive business environment.

Graduates of this programme are expected to take up managerial, promotional and accounting positions in Cooperative, Community Development, Government and Non – Governmental establishments.

Admission requirements; at least two advanced level passes in Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Commerce, Physics and History/Biology/ Chemistry/Geography. The sum of points of the two principal level passes will not be less than 4.0 OR Holders of Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting from MUCCoBS will be eligible.

  1. Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic Development  (BA-CED)

This is three academic years (six Semesters Programme). This programme started in 2008/2009 academic year, with the objective of equipping students with knowledge and skills on community economic development in order to be able to deal with complex issues in community societies in the rural and urban. Graduants on this programme will be employed in public sector such as Municipal Council, District council, Government Institution, Non-Government Organization Cooperative Sector, Private Sector as well as self employed.

Admission requirement is at least two advanced level passes in Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Commerce, Physics and History/ Biology/ Chemistry/Geography/English Language. The sum of points of the two Principal level passes will not be less than 4.0 OR. Holders of Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting from MUCCoBS will be eligible.
