DIRECTORATE OF CONSULTANCY SERVICES


The Directorate of Consultancy Services was established following the resolution of the Governing Board in its 15  Meeting held on 4th June,2010 which approved the dissolution of the Bureau of Research and Consultancy Services to pave way for the establishment of two new Directorates namely the Directorate of Consultancy Services and Directorate of Research and Postgraduate studies. The two departments; Consultancy Services and Tailor Made Programmes were formed to carry out the following functions:

DEPARTMENT OF CONSULTANCY SERVICES (CS)

Overall objective
The Consultancy Services Department shall serve as a nucleus for initiating and overseeing the solicitation, acquisition, execution and coordination of all consultancy assignments undertaken by staff members of the University College.

Functions
In order to play its mandatory role effectively and achieve the above objective, the Consultancy services department shall:

  1. Coordinate the provision of consultancy and community services
  2. Identify and appoint consultants from members of staff to undertake consultancy assignments.
  3. Coordinate the bidding processes, negotiations and contractual agreements relating to consultancy undertakings.
  4. Search for or solicit consultancy works for the University College.
  5. Arrange and coordinate in-house capacity building workshops on consultancy Techniques for MUCCoBS staff.
  6. Initiate linkages and partnerships for consultancy projects with other consulting firms.
  7. Create and maintain a databank of all consultancy assignments accomplished by staff members of the University College.
  8. Prepare and maintain an up-to-date directory of competencies of all staff members of the University College.
  9. Encourage and facilitate, where possible, the registration of staff members in professional consultancy bodies.
  10. Liaise with the Ministry responsible for co-operative development on the possibility of funding the provision of consultancy services to various stakeholders in the co-operative sector.
  11. Initiate fundraising schemes and coordinate their conduct.
  12. Undertake any other activity as directed, from time to time, by relevant authorities.

 

DEPARTMENT OF TAILOR-MADE PROGRAMMES (TMP)

Overall objective
The Department of Tailor-Made Programmes shall be responsible for the designing and implementation of capacity building programmes tailored to specific target groups.

Functions
In order to play its mandatory role effectively and achieve the above objective, the Tailor-Made Programmes Department shall:

    • Design and run tailor-made programmes and other short courses for specific identified target groups.
    • Carryout, from time to time, market surveys to determined capacity building needs of various groups within the community.
    • Liaise with Faculties, Institutes, Directorates and other organs of the University College to determine the needs of various target groups.
    • Liaise with the Ministry responsible for co-operative development on matters related to capacity building of various stakeholders in the co-operative sector.
    • Undertake any other activity as directed, from time to time, by relevant authorities.
